A common appliance mishap you tend to hear about is the dishwasher not filling.
When you constantly hear the dishwasher pumping out water but it is not then filling as it should, it is likely due to water gathering in a shallow tray in the dishwasher. Once this water reaches a certain level it will activate the anti-flood switch, and this will then instruct the dishwasher to pump out the water and shut off to prevent it from refilling again.
If you have been unfortunate enough to encounter this experience, you’ll know the pain of having to pull out the gloves to do the dishes by hand yourself. A dishwasher not filling can be very stressful, and there could be various reasons as to what is causing this to happen.
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
- Build up of water in the base that may be causing an overflow - check this by tipping the machine slightly to one side, allowing excess water to flow away onto the floor.
- Ensure there is no holes or damage to any of the internal parts causing the leak into the base.
- A combination of error codes may be displayed or by a resounding tone, which will indicate the anti-flood switch being turned on due to leaks.
