How to Replace a Door Hinge on a Dishwasher - Bosch

If your dishwasher door is not opening and closing smoothly, it could be an issue with the door hinge. Hinge problems can occur over time due to general wear and tear, as they are called into action so often. A damaged hinge may also be caused by over-extending your dishwasher door.

If you need to replace the door hinge on your dishwasher, you can relax as you have come to the right place! Through watching this video we’ll show you how to replace the hinge successfully without damaging your appliance, and you can also obtain the correct hinge for your model from the eSpares website too.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Caution: Due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury when carrying out this repair.

Step 2 - Remove The Top & Side Panels

Well we need to be able to unhook the hinges, but to do this you are going to need to remove the top and side panels. You need to do this by using a torx head screwdriver to remove the screws that are holding them in place.

eSpares Top Tip: For convenience, once removed you should then take the baskets out from the appliance.

Step 3 - Unhook The Hinges

On the dishwasher in this video, the hinge is held under tension by a spring and pulley system. For you to unhook this you need to close the door and remove the plastic cover that is over the pulley system.

Using a pair of pliers, you are then to unhook the tension cable of the pulley system. Once done on one side, proceed to then doing exactly the same on the other side.
