Smeg Dishwasher Error Code E03

A working dishwasher has become a norm in many modern kitchens and is designed to make your life a little easier - relieving you of the hassle of having to do the washing up.

After enjoying your favourite meal, the task of scrubbing the grease and food off your dishes and cutlery is probably not something that you look forward to doing.

If your Smeg dishwasher is flashing with an E03 error code on the display panel, the likely offender may be the heating element.

Following our advice below will hopefully help you to determine the issue, and then help you tackle the fault to get back to being able to wash the dirty dishes that are piling up.

Cause 1

Heating Element

Dishwashers generally dry by heating the dish load and washing with very hot water, then draining it and filling the base with cold water to allow the steam to condense into the water.

The dishwasher empties the leftover water and beeps to indicate when you are ok to open the door. If opened when the dishes are hot, any remaining water should evaporate from your cutlery.

Please Note: Some plastic articles may not dry thoroughly as they do not retain the heat long enough to help the water to evaporate.

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

  • Check the wash load as this may be a good indication that the heater has not come on during the drying phase.
  • Check the heating element is working by using a multimeter. You can see us using one of these here

If the element is faulty there is no need to panic, luckily we have a large range of replacement elements available on the eSpares website.
